thought for today:
we began by looking at the world around us, and finding it teeming with life, came to consider life itself as commonplace, almost a given.
then looking just a little further out into space around us, expecting to find life everywhere, we have as yet found it nowhere else but here, in our cradle.
but we are still like an infant in a crib, looking up at a mobile swinging above us, hung by our loving parents, trying to draw generalizations about the greater world from nothing but that.
like a baby, there is much in the world that we haven’t yet even imagined, and much that we have imagined about the world is not.
